From
the thousands of emails I get through the past few years regarding stretch
marks, the most depressing stretch
marks stories are those caused by medications (hormonal, steroids
related). Below is a list* of a few medications that may cause severe
stretch marks. The purpose of this page is to inform you of the side
effects of these medications. Consult with your doctors about the side
effects of thinning of skin when prescribed with these medications.
Prednisone
(Reported the most by stretch marks victims)
Prescribed for lupus, Nephrotic Syndrome--kidney problem; skin conditions,
asthma and a wide range of diseases. It is very strong and not intended
to be used heavily for a long period of time. There are irresponsible
doctors who would prescribe it for minor skin problems such as eczema
and psoriasis and the patients sometimes end up with even more problematic
skin.
Dianette
Birth
Control for woman
Mometasone
Furoate cream Also Known as Elocon
(A type of skin lotion prescribed for skin conditions)
Depo
Pervera
Birth control shot. Please note that any medication
that affects hormonal activities could potentially cause some people
stretch marks, including many forms of birth control methods. Opt
for the pills instead of shots.
